Encaustic, leaves & seed pod on cradled wooden board.
.
An abstracted, Australian waterfall, its head cocooned by gum trees, spills in a torrent of water over the edge, buffeting the opened seed pod against the rocks.
"...this piece was one of my responses to 2020, I wanted to make something beautiful from a tragic time in our collective history.
I chose encaustic (wax) as my medium as I liked the juxtaposition of taming its uncontrollable nature while painting an out of control water torrent that surprisingly gave me back a sense of control.
Its title, of course, was a line from the other pandemic inspired nursery rhyme,
'Ring-a-Ring-a-Rosie (a fevered red face)
A pocketful of posies (flowers were thought to
ward off the plague)
A-tishoo, Atishoo. (sneezing)
We all Fall Down'
This encaustic beauty would be the perfect calming addition to your favourite space.
Ready to hang with d-rings, chord & protective felt pads installed.
